Sephora Haul #1 (Winter 2k16)

*Thank you Azra for the nomination for the Entertainer Blogger Award, check out the end of this post for the questions and nominees.*

Well, let me start of this post by saying that I’m in Chicago, well not really. I’m on the road heading to Florida, and we’re currently in Indiana. For the past days that I have neglected The Chic Community, I was in Chicago, shopping in mostly Sephora and recovering from the jet lag.

For the next posts, it’s mostly going to be hauls because I won’t have time to try things out, but if I do, I’ll make sure to post reviews. Without further ado, let’s get into this haul.

The first thing that I got was this Glow Kit, I liked it the minute everyone started posting pictures of it on Instagram. The packaging is super simple and cute, which is great for traveling. Especially since I buy a lot of makeup when traveling to America. It is more so of a sheer highlighter, maybe that’s why some people don’t like it. But you can use it in more different ways, like eyeshadows or even lips, if you like taking risks. I’m excited to try this out and I’ll tell you all about it.

Glow Kit – Ultimate Glow

*I don’t  know if the Lethal shade is cracked or not, I just realized the line while writing this post.*

I was contemplating whether or not to get this palette because, I don’t do well with Urban Decay’s pigmentation. But for the sake of you guys, I decided to get it and try it out and tell you all about it. As my mother pointed out, it’s very similar to the Kyshadow palette, so I might do a comparison between them later on.

Naked Ultimate Basics

I’ve been wanting to try out cream highlighters for a while now, so when I passed by the Becca stand in Sephora, this caught my eye. As you can see, it is in fact a creamy product, so I’m as well excited to try it out. I got this one in the iconic shade ‘Champagne Pop’.

Shimmering Skin Perfector

If you’re like me, then you spend hours on end watching Instagram beauty tutorials, and you have to somehow stumbled upon the foundation sticks. It looks very interesting, and easy? I mean, it’s not messy like liquid foundation, you just straight away put it on your face. I asked one of the Sephora people (yup, thats what im calling them) to help me pick out a foundation because whenever I pick, it makes my face ashy. And if I remember correctly, she said it was because the shade was too light for me. So, there’s a makeup tip for you.

Stick Foundation

Last but certainly not least, are the new Bite multi task lipsticks. These came out the day I left America during the Summer, so I’m a bit late to trying these out. But I finally got my hands on them and am very excited to try them out. I’ve been a fan of Bite Beauty before I was even a huge fan of makeup, and that was years ago. Bite Beauty never disappoints so I’m looking forwards for these multi tasks lipsticks.

That’s it for this haul, hope you enjoyed this first Sephora haul, hope y’all are excited for the next 20 Sephora hauls!

Thank you Azra for the nomination once again, make sure you go out and check out their blog because it is to die for!

What do you hope to gain from blogging?

Honestly, I love sharing what I got from different stores and my opinions on them and blogging is the perfect opportunity for that. So, there’s really nothing I’m hoping to gain from, it’s just a way for me to “escape reality”.

What genre of film entertains you the most?

Comedy, anything that makes me laugh.

Do you consider yourself a writer, and what inspires you to write?

I do consider myself as a writer, I’m currently in the process of writing 5 novels, and I’m hoping to share with you the stories super soon. Listening to songs, mostly Disney is what really gets me going.

Why did you choose your particular WordPress username?

I was in the shower when I thought of this name, there isn’t any reason towards it.

What is your favorite book, and why does it speak to you?

Oh, that’s hard. I have a lot of favorite books, but if I were to choose one it would be Will Grayson Will Grayson, it’s by John Green, figures. It doesn’t necessarily speak to me, it was the start of my obsession with books, that’s when I started to become a bookworm.

What is your favorite song, and why does it speak to you?

I’ve had the Moana soundtrack on repeat for the past month, currently listening to it while on the road.

What is your favorite photograph, and why does it speak to you ?

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

It was the last day of exams and I was just really proud of how it turned out. My friends really liked the layout and it’s a perfect representation of my personality. Pink and pastels.

My Opinion On Urban Decay

If you have been following me on here and on Instagram (@thechicommunity) for the last few weeks, you would know that I have very mixed feelings about Urban Decay. There are days where I love it so much to the point where I just use it like crazy, and there are days where I’m like eh.

I guess you could say that I’m a little late on the Naked palette trend train, my mom gave them to me recently since she doesn’t really use them. I was having really high expectations for these palettes because of the amount of love that these palettes have received. I’m not trying to say that these palettes suck and you shouldn’t buy them, I just recommend you buying another high end brand like Anastasia Beverly Hills to spend your money on other than Urban Decay.

I still use these palettes, I mean look at how gorgeous they all look. The colors are to do die for, and the packaging is perfect for decor. The brushes are amazing, the simplicity of them makes it so much better, and the amount of shades there are on one palette makes your money worth it.

The only thing that really disappoints me with Urban Decay palettes is the amount of the product gets picked up by the brush. I have mentioned the Moondust palette for ages now, but I just wanted to get something across. I thought at first that the Moondust palette was the only palette where I either had to use my fingers to really get the product on to my lid, or drown my brush with setting spray, but apparently all Urban Decay’s palettes are like that.

I am not the only one that thinks that, there are multiple reviews that talk about how the brush doesn’t really pick up the product, so it’s not my brush’s fault. But all in all, I still support Urban Decay all the way, and would buy their products and hopefully expect good results.

Lid Primer Battle

Previous Battle

As promised from my last post, I’m going to be comparing the Urban Decay primer with the Smashbox primer, these two are definitely my favorite, so it’s going to be hard to choose.

Sorry for the lack of photos, my battery for my camera decided to die the last minute and I totally forgot to bring the charger.

I love Smashbox, so whenever I’m looking for something I always head to the Smashbox section in Sephora. When I first got the primer I fell in love, the consistency and the feeling on my lids was beyond amazing. It had amazing coverage, so it covered all those random veins that we have on our lids and it left a smooth finish to it. What’s great about this primer is that you don’t need to set it, you know how sometimes we set primers by applying any light shade eyeshadow? Well this primer, you don’t need to. And also it makes your eyeshadow pop like crazy, which I’m obsessed with.

All great products have some downsides to them, for example, if you don’t immediately act after you spread this on your lids, it will create these “harsh lines” around your tear ducts and wherever you have yet to blend. It gets really annoying so you have to blend right after you have put some on your lid. The second thing I noticed was how heavy weighted it is, although it is super comfortable, it still feels a bit too much on your lids. But other than that, I really love this primer.

Urban Decay:

I have mixed feeling with Urban Decay as a whole, I have some of their eyeshadow palettes and I don’t know what to think of them. Anyway, I at first disliked this primer. I felt like it didn’t really cover up my veins and it was giving me very little product. So I have to squeeze out of the bottle to get some. But what I really like about this is how light weight it is, it’s not as thick or as heavy like Smashbox, which is a great thing cause we’re all about comfortability right? My eyeshadow also looked amazing, and it stays on all day long.

Just like Smashbox, this is obviously going to have some downsides to it. You know when you smile, your lids get all creased up or whatever? Yeah it feels weird when you do that when you have this primer on. I feel like it makes my lids all stiff which isn’t really the best thing in the world. And just how like I mentioned before about giving me very little product, which is a downside. And lastly, you have to set it. Even though setting it is like a two second step, it’s still a step that I have to do or the primer is going to get all creased up and my eyeshadow won’t blend easily. So yeah, but all in all I really liked it.

If I had to choose one for the rest of my life, I would go with the Smashbox primer.

August or Makeup Favorites?

As you can see, August favorites is basically makeup favorites. If you follow me on Instagram (@thechicommunity) then you would know that these past few months I’ve been buying makeup like a maniac. So these are some of my favorites, these are my go-to products and things that I have been reaching out to constantly.

This palette is my plan B palette. If the palette that I’m using is not reaching my expectations, then there’s a chance that I would reach out to this palette and use it instead. I have never owned a tarte eye shadow palette, and this is my first one and I’m in love. This palette was a collab with Grav3yardgirl, I have talked about this palette in my Palette Fever post if you want more details about it.  One of the best things about this palette is that you can create looks that vary from a dramatic night out look to a simple everyday natural look.

I applaud Urban Decay for packaging, like honestly 10 out of 10. Even the title is amazing and the names of the shades. Especially the shade ‘Lightyear’ you know because Buzz Lightyear is green and this shade is green… anyway. As  in my previous post, this is not really that pigmented. I would recommend using your fingers to apply on your eye lids than the brush because the brush doesn’t seem to pick it up. And this is one of those build-able process, you just build on layers of the color.

Not going to go in to too much detail about this mascara, but this is a mascara you definitely need to own in your life. I think the figure 8 shape of the brush is what really does the trick. If you want more information on that, make sure you check my previous posts.

We’re bringing it back, coloring the model’s lips with my current favorite lip product. You wouldn’t have known that this is a thing that I do if you don’t follow me on Instagram, make sure you do so. Anastasia lip glosses are definitely something. The formula and the applicator makes life so much easier, it glides on your lips smoothly and all you want to do is apply coats of this because of the smoothness of it. This is a perfect shade for an everyday look, it’s a browny nude color, and it’s called ‘Warm Bronze’.
